Obituary of Helen Elizabeth Campbell

HELEN ELIZABETH CAMPBELL The family of Helen Elizabeth Campbell are saddened to announce her passing on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the age of 97. Helen was predeceased by her husband Jim; sister Marjorie; and brothers Alan and Stuart. She leaves to mourn, her daughter Anne (Ken) Denning of Montana; grandchildren, Peter (Jennifer) Loewen of Hawaii, Chris Loewen of Calgary, Tim (Kendra) Loewen of Regina, Rebecca (Justin) Davey of Indian Head and Patrick (Melissa) McDonald of Regina. Helen has three great-grandchildren, Alison McDonald, Zander Loewen and Hudson Davey. She leaves two cousins, Dalmas Winn of Regina and Ian Stuart of Toronto; brother-in-law Bert (Dorothy) Campbell of Killarney MB; two sisters-in-law, Josie Campbell of Edmonton and Ethel Wruth of Carnduff; as well as several nieces and nephews. Helen was born to William and Elizabeth Campbell. She spent several early years in Moose Jaw and it always held a very special place in her heart. After graduating from Central Collegiate in Regina, she became a stenographer. Helen was born a Campbell and always said she would never change her name. To everyones amazement, she met Jim Campbell, who was training at the RCMP barracks. Jim left the RCMP and joined the army, enabling them to marry before he was sent overseas during WWII. On his return, Helen retired to become a homemaker. Their only child, Anne, was born in 1947. Helen lived a quiet, but satisfying life with Jim. Carmichael Church was a focal point of their lives where they met many lifelong friends. Helen strived and succeeded, excelling as a homemaker. Most importantly, her home became a place of warmth and comfort to many. In a world of change, her home was a steadying constant, where joys and concerns of family and friends were shared. She loved reading, crossword puzzles and her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. She, Jim, Marjorie and her mother Elizabeth lived contentedly in their home on 15th Avenue. They all left a legacy of harmony, respect towards others, and true caring for the most important things in life, friends and family. The era of 1509 15th ends with Helens passing. Thank you to Sunset Extendicare for your kindness during Helens stay. A Private Family Funeral will follow at a later date. Helen will be interred in Riverside Memorial Park, Field of Honour with her beloved husband Jim.
