Obituary of Gerald Martin Karst
Gerry Karst passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional
Hospital on the morning of Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the age of
84. He is survived by his beloved wife Anne and stepson Joe; his son
James (Brenda); his grandchildren Heather, Amy, Michael and Adam of
Calgary; his brother Gene (Mary) Gazda of Regina; his sister Marie
(Jack) Griffin of Sherwood Park and a great many nieces and nephews
who will miss him very much. Gerry was predeceased in 2001 by his
first wife Theresa. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force
and the Canadian Army during and immediately after WWII. He moved on
to begin a lengthy and rewarding career culminating with the position
of General Manager with the Saskatchewan Transportation Company. His
retirement was spent enjoying life whenever possible at the cottage at
Lumsden Beach. He also contributed to the success of Lumsden Beach by
being the Secretary/Treasurer for many years. The Funeral Mass will
be celebrated at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 3125 13th Avenue, Regina,
on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Brian
Meredith presiding. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be
made to the Medicine Hat Cancer Centre, 666 - 5 Street S.W., Medicine
Hat, Alberta, T1A 4H6. The family would like to express their
heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Medicine Hat Cancer Clinic,
especially Doctors Trudeau and Foley and their compassionate nursing
