William Paisley

Obituary of William John Paisley

We are saddened to announce the passing of our father and grandfather William John (Bill). He is survived by his children Kim (Armella) of Regina [Kira (Dan), John]; Cheryl Allred of Calgary [Aric (Saengdao), Kent (Rebecca), Lesley (Adam)]; William (Karen) of Regina [Shawn, Adam (Danielle), Christopher (Muze)]; and Patrice (Henry) of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by Rose Madeline (Biegler), his wife of 66 years, in 2020; and their son, Jared William in 2008; parents Jared and Lorena (Kuhlmeier); siblings Marjorie Adams, Dorothy Paisley, Jean (Maxine) Frey, and Joyce Kay; son-in law Vance Allred; and daughter-in-law Maureen Paisley. He was born in Beechy, Saskatchewan and grew up in Regina attending school at the former Davin Elementary and Balfour Tech. As a young man, Bill worked for his father in the J.R. Paisley Company heavy equipment and steel building business until the company was sold and he started work as a salesman for the Canada Cement Company - a career he enjoyed until his retirement. He said his work career coincided with the rise and fall of the Berlin wall (1961-1989). Bill married Rose Madeline Biegler in 1954 and over their 66 years of marriage they raised five children and welcomed eight grandchildren. Their grandchildren were blessed with their grandparent’s ongoing love and support throughout their formative years and, indeed, throughout their entire lives. Dad was a great father and made it a priority to support his children in all their activities – a practice which continued with the grandchildren. Although it was a great feat to organize five kids, he and mom took us on ski and camping trips to the mountains and organized many extended family gatherings including the Biegler Memorial Golf Classic and the Paisley Hackey Extravaganza and many other special birthday and anniversary celebrations. He nurtured his creative side through home renovations, wood working, stained glass creations and wood carving. Dad and Mom cherished many years at their B-Say-Tah Road cottage and they enjoyed many country drives around the Fort Qu’Appelle area. He brought the cottage to bloom with many flowers and was always the first one to get a wood tick. Dad was an ardent golfer and was a member of Echo Ridge Golf Course for many years as well as a Club Champion. In the later years he looked forward to trips to Beechy where his family had homesteaded. Dad and Mom enjoyed many winters with family in Arizona and on the West Coast and visiting their children in New Zealand, New Brunswick and Alberta. He also enjoyed many hours helping out at the Paisley Golf Oasis driving range and loved meeting and chatting with people. Dad was an avid photographer and over the years created a wonderful collection of family memories documented through slides, photographs and 16mm films which provided much entertainment. Dad and Mom created an ideal environment and home life for their children and grandchildren. While having unconditionally loving and supportive parents and grandparents is a privilege, and a time which is always too brief, we were extremely fortunate for Dad’s 93 years and Mom’s 89. They will both be greatly missed by the family and those lucky enough to have known them. Our fond and loving memories of them are plentiful and will keep us all smiling. Rest in peace Dad and Grandpa, you couldn’t have done any better. We love you and will always appreciate your wry sense of humour and selflessness. Due to current restriction guidelines, a private family service will be held at a later date.
