Obituary of Ruth Elly Kurtz

KURTZ, RUTH ELLY (nee Hahnel) March 27, 1919 February 18, 2011 Ruth, late of Regina SK, passed away peacefully at Pasqua Hospital surrounded by family on Friday, February 18, 2011 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her parents Otto and Wilhelmina Hahnel; sister Edith Schaumleffel; brother Walter Hahnel; sister-in-law Lena Hahnel; father-in-law Phillip Kurtz; mother-in-law Katherine Kurtz; brother-in-law Phillip Kurtz; sister-in-law Anne Kurtz; brother-in-law John Neiszner; sister-in-law Mary Neiszner; brother-in-law John Pugh; sister-in-law Beth Pugh; sister-in-law Caroline Kurtz; brother-in-law Bernard Jelinski; sister-in-law Nellie Jelinski and brother-in-law Joe Kurtz. Ruth leaves to mourn her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Nick; son Ken (fiance Marjorie Faber); brother-in-law Steve Schaumleffel; brother-in-law John Kurtz and sister-in-law Monica Kurtz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth worked at and later owned the family flower shop DeLuxe Florists along with brother-in-law Steve and continued to enjoy flowers throughout her life. Upon the birth of son Ken, Ruth retired from the flower shop to become a full time homemaker. In her earlier years Ruth was a member of the Soroptimist Club and later became a charter member of the Lioness Club of Regina. Ruth was an avid golfer and was a member of the ladies section of the Wascana Golf and Country Club. For many years Ruth and Nick enjoyed traveling throughout Canada, United States and Mexico and attended numerous Lions International Conventions. They also enjoyed attending many social gatherings both with the Regina Central Lions Club and the Wascana Golf Club and Ruth enjoyed preparing wonderful meals and spending time surrounded by family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Stewart McMillan and staff along with the nurses at the Pasqua hospital. A Private Family Service will be held. Flowers most gratefully declined.
