I had the great pleasure of meeting Warren at the Annual CABO meetings. We shared many long and interesting discussions about basketball on the West coast and what was happening on the East coast. I know basketball was a passion we both shared and he accomplished so much in such a short period of time. When my son competed in the Canada Games in Saskatchewan (many years ago), Warren made sure I got to all of the tennis events and ensured I had tickets to the basketball games. I will never forget his generosity and hospitality. Warren has a lot of friends in Nova Scotia and we will all miss him. My sincere condolences to his family. Dear Debbie,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Warren. My deepest condolences are with you and the girls. It seems like I just saw you on the bike path the other day and we had that nice catch up visit. Debbie, I want to extend my sincerest condolences to you, the girls and to both Families. Warren and I grew up in the East end of Regina, and attended the same schools. I remember like it was yesterday the many evenings and afternoons spent playing football with the Poncsak boys on Queen Elizabeth School front lawn. In the winter it was setting up the nets for our shiny games under the corner lights just down the end of his block and the many afternoons at lunch playing basketball. The hours we spent playing sports helped solidify our life long friendship. Warren, will be missed by many for his wit, compassion and friendship. Rest In Peace my Friend.

Jess, Shea, Nikki, and Debbie, I am sorry I was not able to express my condolences in person, but the online service was beautiful. I remember you three as being so kind, optimistic, and genuinely happy people, traits I am sure you received from both your parents. Your Dad's spirit lives on in all of you. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

Debbie, Jessica, Shea, and Nicole; my deepest sympathies.
As part of the Can West crew, I had many opportunities to work with Warren; whether on the court, doing committee work, or mentoring referees. One of many attributes that sticks with me is Warren’s ability to frankly point out room for growth without leaving any sense of failure, but rather inspiring and empowering one to commit to that growth...one of a kind.
May the support and condolences of the many within the various communities that Warren has been so involved in, bring you some sense of peace and comfort as you cherish memories and navigate your path forward.

Debbie and family:
My sincerest condolences to you in your loss. I got to know Warren through officiating and worked many games with him at the university and high school levels. He became a mentor and most importantly a good friend. A wonderful, caring man who I valued in my life whenever we crossed paths. I appreciated his insights and philosophy on life. He will truly be missed.

Dear Debbie and Family,
Karen and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. We extend our deepest sympathies to you and your family. We have so many fond memories of our time in Regina and our experience with Team Handball in Saskatchewan. Over my four decades in the sport, my years in SK top my list for the quality of the people that I’ve met and played with. Warren was a big part of that, and he certainly had a positive impact on our lives. As one of the boys, he shared a remarkable passion for life and always loved to “work hard, play hard and party hard.” Oh man, did I learn to do that in Saskatchewan! Not only did I have the chance to get to know Warren as a teammate and leader on the court, I also had the privilege of working with him at the Sask. Team Handball Federation for four years as a volunteer. It didn’t matter if Warren was in the office or on the court, he always had my back and that of his teammates. Warren was always willing to share his immense knowledge of the sport and sports management, and he always had many good stories to tell. I was impressed by the countless number of individuals that he coached through his clinics and all the tournaments that he ran and organized and how generous he was with everyone. For me, as a young French lad moving from Montreal to Regina, I am thankful that I had a chance to meet you and Warren. You both helped Karen and I integrate into the Team Handball community and you were always very supportive and encouraging. While I thought that most of my teammates were giants (they all had at least 40-100+ pounds over me), Warren stood out as a “giant of a person” because of his generous heart, his contagious and welcoming smile, and his “quiet” presence. Remembering his gentle and wonderful soul will forever remain in our hearts. May our condolences bring you peace during this painful time. Robert & Karen Monet

This is such sad news. My deepest condolences to my friends and colleagues in Warren's extended family. This was a man who loved life and living and to have his cut short is the most unkindest cut. I knew Warren from the late 70s through his brother, Darcy, and from working together in the late 1970s. His warmth, kindness, humour, intelligence, and generosity shone through from first meeting. And what a physical specimen! -- a gifted athlete who never acted like one -- modest and gentle to a fault but someone whom you knew would always have your back. But almost striking of all was, from earliest times, was his complete devotion to his perfect mate, Debbie. To her, I express my deepest hope that you know that he has gained immortality through the many lives he has touched.
I will always remember Warren's sly, crooked smile when cracking wise. What fun we had in playing tennis after a full night's work at the Pump -- lights on the court somehow mysteriously ablaze at 3am! (I'll never tell, Warren!). Although our paths diverged after those halcyon days, the years always disappeared whenever we subsequently met. I will miss you, my friend. To all whom loved him -- hold each other close.

I met Warren through noon hour pickup basketball at the U of R and played with/against him for years. I always looked forward to playing with him, as he would always teach me something new, and he would challenge me to improve my game...even in my 40's... I am sorry for your loss, Warren was a great guy, treated everyone with so much respect, and will be missed by everyone.

Debbie please accept Eileen and my condolences on Warrens passing. Warren was always trying to make his teammates and fellow officials better. I was a better handball player because of him. Later when I became an official, Warren was always giving advice to me which helped me improve my reffing skills. Many times when on the court and trying to make the right call, I would think, what would Warren do. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

He gave of his talents at the community level as well as provincially and at the federal level.

I am so very saddened to hear of Warren's passing. I knew Warren in his youth, and even then he was a strong man, not only in his athleticism, but strong in his kind heart and steadfast mind. Everyone always felt safe when he was around. I recall a time when Warren and Deb were visiting Montreal for Team-Handball. Montreal was known for its city cars impatiently lurching towards pedestrians at crosswalks. and one car came to close to all of us, and Warren turned, put is hands on the hood of the car, and stared directly at the driver. You should have seen that driver jump in his seat! Not only did Warren stop that car, I believe he stopped all traffic in Montreal. He was a stellar guy. always looking out for others.
My sincere condolences to Debbie and their girls; to Margaret; and to Warren's siblings, as I know he was a much beloved brother.

The last time I had a chance to visit and chat with Warren was at Costco. He went out of his way to help me put my new tv in my vehicle and was so excited for me because it was going to ready to watch the Toronto Raptors play for the NBA title that night. Warren was always passionate about basketball. I played many years against him and respected his abilities especially for being and undersized player. He always went inside the paint to outwork guys much taller. As an official I knew at the start of the game it was going to be a well officiated game. Debbie and the girls, my heart goes out to you. Warren will be missed in so many circles, but know that those circles are far better off having had his presence in them.

Debbie and your whole family. The news of Warren's passing was nothing less than shocking and incredibly sad. Although I moved from Regina decades ago so many people there remained in my heart.
Warren was the singular person who made a skinny awkward kid feel welcome on the Miller Sr boys team. Then subsequently as a Cougar. He was a friend when I needed one.
You Debbie I knew from St Joseph. You were one of the most genuinely sweet people I have ever known. I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and with Warren as he begins his most important journey.

Debbie and family please accept our deepest condolences on Warren's passing. Warren, Brooke and myself always enjoyed speaking with Warren as he was always so positive, knowledgeable and encouraging. Warren was a great story teller and it was wonderful how he remembered so many details of the time we played basketball at the U of R. The picture you choose of Warren is prefect and that is how we will always remember him. With that wonderful smile on his face. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Wow what a shock. Whenever I would see Warren around there was always smiles and a “how ya doing?” Funny how youth results in familiarity bonds for life. Shout out to my old friend Marty. Warren was truly a nice guy. Take care.
