Our sincere and heartfelt condolences Shirley, Corrie and Family. We had the pleasure of being students of Mr. McKee’s at Balfour. He was definitely right up there as a favourite teacher way back when. Years later we got to know Lyle and Shirley when our sons played football together for the Rams. We remember fondly the good times we had travelling to Kelowna to watch the boys win the Canadian Bowl and the celebrations after. Lyle had a great sense of humour and was just an all around nice guy and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

As yet another student of Mr. McKee's from Midale Central, I can confirm the positive impact he had on our class. I remember his exasperation when early in the school year he determined our math abilities were less than stellar. He wondered aloud how we had ever made it to Grade 10! He started us on daily multiplication table tests and was quite proud when we eventually turned our skills around to something respectable.
Please accept my sympathies and I know those of my entire class.

To The Family,
It was with shock and sadness that I learned of Lyle's sudden passing. As a proud and grateful former Midale High School student of his, I can certainly testify and validate that "Mr. Mckee" was truly the "Math Department" of our school. His genuine passion and always well organized, methodical teaching gift was so appreciated by myself and every student that ever sat in one of his classrooms. The Midale school and indeed the entire community were so fortunate and blessed to have had Lyle share a few of his early teaching years with us. His active extra curricular involvement and participation as an enthusiastic, competent and competitive coach of several school sports teams was an added bonus.
On occasion, in recent years, I saw him down here in Weyburn, unfortunately attending funerals of former students. How proud he was of his former students. That was something special that didn't go unnoticed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lyle's entire family through this sad and difficult time. A wonderful person. A true life mentor.
Our condolences to all of you,
Dr. Gary and Shelley Hoium

Mr. McKee was an amazing teacher. His humor, compassion, and acceptance made him a favorite and his enthusiasm for teaching made learning fun. Not only was he my math teacher but later became a math tutor for 2 of my children. Like me, they thought he was a fantastic teacher and they excelled from the great skills and knowledge he imparted. Great teacher and even better person. My condolences to your family.

A person's character will leave some impression on others. To be thought of by students and others after nearly 50 years is a tribute to that person. People think of Lyle with positive thoughts.
A 1972 memory from Midale.

With deep sympathy to the McKee family on your loss. Mr McKee was my home room and math teacher. He was very kind but I also enjoyed his humorous, mischievous angle that he used to help keep class light and not feel overwhelming. However, he did not suffer fools gladly and I would never want to disappoint him by not having my homework done! He helped make coming to high school in grade nine not feel too scary and I knew I could go to him about anything. I really appreciated seeing his smiling, friendly face down the hallway. We have been friends on Facebook and I was very grateful for his support in mental health awareness and some words of encouragement he shared with me a few times. His passing is undoubtedly a loss for many. Rest In Peace Mr. McKee.

My deepest sympathy to you. Mr.McKee was at the top of my list of favourite teachers at Balfour. I loved math and he was always so energetic and encouraging. Lyle was a wonderful and caring person as well. I would see him a few times over the years. He taught at Balfour with my Dad and was present at both my parents passing. I enjoyed talking with him and his smile was infectious and comforting. Such a gentleman and you were so fortunate to be a part of his life. May your memories of him hold you tight. To the McKee family: I was so sorry to hear of Lyle's sudden passing. I was a student of his back in the old days in Midale. We had reconnected after my sister's passing 3 years ago and were planning to get together for coffee or a drink before Covid hit. Keep your memories close to your heart and remember all the wonderful times. Bonnie Ozem (Olischefski)
