Obituary of Frieda Elizabeth Deck

With great sadness, the family of Frieda Deck (Brems) announces her peaceful passing on August 10, 2021 at the age of 80 years after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Frieda was born May 6, 1941, in what was then called Zichydorf, Yugoslavia and immigrated to Canada in 1948, growing up near Kendal, SK, where she met her husband, Harvey. They moved to Regina in the 1960’s where she enjoyed gardening, camping trips, and spending time with family and friends. Frieda was predeceased by her father Jakob in 1943, mother Katharina in 1986, stepfather Anton Niedermayer in 1997, sister-in-law Peggy in 2010 and husband Harvey in 2009. Frieda is survived by her two sons, Shawn Deck and Kevin (Pam) Deck, her beloved grandson, Kelly Anticknap, her sister, Linda Balycky, sisters-in-law Lucille Dean and Carol Dubois, brother-in-law Peter Deck (Iryna) and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Al-Hayki, as well as the caring staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Palliative and Home Care, and Wascana Rehab. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations in Frieda's memory to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. A graveside service will take place at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday August 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
