Obituary of Andrew D. Sirounis

ANDREW D. SIROUNIS January 20, 1928 March 6, 2013 It is with great sorrow that we announce the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Andrew Andrea? D. Sirounis, on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Andrea has now journeyed Home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and all of his predeceased family and friends. Upon his arrival to Canada from Kastri, Greece, Andrea worked at the Georgia Hotel, LaSalle Hotel and Novia Cafe before venturing off to B.C. to work on shipping vessels as a cook. It is here that his career in the restaurant business began. It is also here where he discovered his love of photography. A few years later, he moved back to Regina and bought the Marina Caf along with his brother Perry Sirounis and partner Lyle Karahalios. After successfully running the Marina Caf, the partners continued establishing themselves with their next endeavor, the Sherwood House Restaurant and lastly in 1979, they built the Harvest Eating House. Andreas successful career was only outshone by his success as a person. Andrea was the epitome of a loving and honourable man who had a strong Orthodox Christian faith and knew the importance of family. Anyone who knew Andrea would be quick to tell you that he was a generous, astute, hardworking man, who quietly and humbly lived his life always putting others before himself. Although outwardly reserved, those who knew him well, loved and appreciated his sense of humor, positive attitude and infectious laugh. Andrea had a gift of wisdom and could always offer the best advice. Andrea was predeceased by his parents Demetrios and Aggeliki, sisters Georgia and Panagiota; and a brother Costa (in infancy). He is survived by his loving wife of fifty three years, Evaggelia "Leah", his daughters, Angie (Brad LaForge), and Alice (Jeff Rathgeber); and his son, Demetrios Sirounis. Pappou? will also be missed by his grandchildren, Jessica (Brody), Stefan, Andrianna and Zoe; his brothers Perry (Maria) Sirounis, John (Anne) Sirounis, sister Voula (Jim) Giannoulis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations in memoriam to the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1 or to St. Pauls Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK, S4S 2B2. The family would like to thank the staff of the General Hospital, the Pasqua Hospital, Sunset Extendicare and special thanks to his companions Susan, Shirley and Hinda from Bayshore Home Health. Prayers will be held at Saint Pauls Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK on Wednesday, March 13 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
