Obituary of Theresa Strumberger

THERESIA STRUMBERGER (nee SCHWARZ) January 6, 1919 April 7, 2011 It is with very fond memories that we announce the passing of Theresa on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the age of 92. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Katherine (Kay) Lamla and husband Heinz; two granddaughters, Darlene Lamla and husband Doug Foster, and Tanya Grant and husband Pat; and two great-granddaughters, Xiamara Lamla Foster and Mataya Lamla Foster. Theresa is predeceased by her husband, Jack in 2002; an infant son, Frank; eight siblings and her parents, Jakob and Maria Schwarz. She was born on January 6, 1919 in Jarmina, Croatia and was the youngest of eight. In 1936, she married Jakob Strumberger. The family settled in Austria after World War II and in 1953 they immigrated to Canada with their daughter, first arriving in Coledale, Alberta. The following year they moved to Regina, Saskatchewan making this their home. Theresa was an extremely hard worker. She worked at the Hotel Saskatchewan for a number of years and ended her career at the Regina General Hospital when she retired at the age of 65. Theresa enjoyed her well cared for garden, beautiful flowers and most of all, baking. This was her greatest hobby especially if she was able to share it with family, friends and neighbours. Let us celebrate and remember her as someone who was generous, kind and a true giver to all. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Valeria Fracchia for her devoted attention and special friendship for many years.
