Obituary of Angela Katherine Kartusch

It is with sadness the family of Angela Kartusch announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in Sunset Extendicare, at 98 years of age. Angela was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Michael, on July 12, 1996, her parents Michael and Barbara Fix, sisters, Catherine and Sister Anne Fix. Angela is survived by her family: Julie (Donald) Merth and children Kevin (Diane) of Anmore, BC and family: Thomas, Peter, Gregory and Daniel; Colleen Nielsen of Aurora, ON and her family Carla (Rob Brock) of Huntsville, TX, and Matthew and Kimberly; Glenn (Shelley) and daughter Jenna of Lloydminster, AB; Michael (Sheila Ballman) of Regina, sons Wayne (Myrna) of Lacombe, AB and their sons Mark (Karen) and family Mathew and Kate of Newcastle, ON; Lisa Kartusch (Rob Filipchuk) and their family Noah and Layla of Edmonton, AB; Michael (Allison) and their boys, Andrew and Nathan of Red Deer, AB and Mel (Judy) of Winnipeg, MB and their sons Mel (Margo) of North Vancouver, BC and their sons Owen and Adam; Cory (Shawna) and their daughters Addison and Reece of Winnipeg, MB; and Brother Rev. V.J. Fix of Penticton, BC. Angelas life was centered around her family, church and friends. Angela was a charter and lifetime member of the C.W.L., holding a variety of positions; a member of parish council for many years and a worker at numerous church functions. Angela had a lifelong passion for Petit Point and Needle Point and as a result, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends have many keepsakes of her handiwork. Once Michael retired from school and his involvement with hockey, they spent many years travelling to Hawaii, Phoenix and her favorite place, Las Vegas. Family gatherings where the children and friends enjoyed her cooking and baking were very much a part of her life. Angela moved out of her home of 72 years and moved into First Baptist Place where she made many new friends. The last four and a half months were spent at Sunset Extendicare. Special thanks to Dr. S. McMillan for the many years of care he provided for her. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 in St. Marys R.C. Church, 2026 Winnipeg Street, Regina with Rev. Father Danilo Rafael presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends wishing to make donations may contribute to the Saskatchewan Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon SK, S7N 0W8 or to a charity of their choice.
