Obituary of Marjorie Barlow

MARJORIE BARLOW Marjorie (nee Hailstone) born in Ceylon, SK in 1915 passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2010, loving wife of Russ Barlow (deceased 1999), whom she married in 1940. Predeceased by her mother Annie in 1979; father Charles in 1923; brother FO William in 1943; sister Betty in 2007; and daughter-in-law Bev in 2007. Marj is survived by her sons, Bill (Penny) and Burns (Wendy); grandchildren: John (Louise) Barlow, Todd Barlow, Stephen (Trina) Barlow, Rob (Natasja) Barlow, Kym (Jason) Smale, Kyla (Dave) Bussiere, Keir Dripps, Michelle (Jason) Kleemola, Chris (Angela) Nisbett; great-grandchildren: Graeden, Kinley, McKenna, Aquinnah, Dylan, Lennon, Spenser, Taylor, Tylar, Emily, Ava, Gabriella, and Luca; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and their children. Mom was extremely active in charitable organizations, putting her whole heart and soul into helping others, especially in the Red Cross (being the convener of the blood donor clinics for many years and serving as president), Meals on Wheels, Gyro Club and St. Marys Anglican Church. We always joked with her that she was one of the Do-Gooders.? Mom was an at home mom and loved looking after her two boys and later on in life looking after and loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was a devoted, loving and caring mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to so very many. She loved to cook, bake, sew, knit, and loved her flower garden at home and at the lake, and loved to play the piano and organ. She loved to visit and entertain her family and friends at home or especially at the cottage on Echo Lake, everyone was welcome at any time. Mom and the family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. S. Bester, the dedicated, loving and caring staff at Dove House, long time friends, Helen Sandberg, Eleanor Szumack, niece Dona Barlow, family and friends who continually spent many happy times with Marj over the last few years visiting her and caring for her at the care home. Also, our sincere thanks to the staff at Dusyk & Barlow for their support, love and dedication during this time. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at St. Marys Anglican Church, 3337 15th Avenue, Regina at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Christopher Snook officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
