Obituary of Sophie Regier

On August 16, 2010, Sophie passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Isbrand Joe? Regier (June 1981); daughter Beverly Stoesz, (September 1990); her parents Svetozar Sam? and Dana Stankov; and her siblings Catherine, Lazar Spud?, Daisy, Agnes, Annie and infant brother James. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Debbie (Claude) Marchand and Kathy (Paul) Kurty; son-in-law Bill (Elaine) Stoesz; grandchildren Chris (Cindy) Regier, Michelle (Shane) Perche, Trevor (Corrie) Stoesz, Andrea (Derek) Wallace and Melissa (Josh) Wulf; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Austin and Rylie Regier; Makayla Perche; Colby and Carter Stoesz; Paxton and Jett Wallace; and Blaine Wulf; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Sophie was born in Regina, where she lived for most of her life. She retired from the Bank of Montreal in 1982 after 28 years. Sophie recently moved in with family after spending 21 years at Norwest Place, where she was an original tenant and served as a member of the Board of Directors for several years. Family came first to Sophie and she took great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren -- helping out whenever needed. She loved her cross stitch, word puzzles and was a spirited card player introducing her grandchildren to canasta and cribbage. She will be remembered for her sense of humour, her quick wit and her gentle spirit. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.
