Obituary of Doris Bennett

DORIS BENNETT Doris, who lived her entire life in Regina SK, was called home on Sunday, March 10, 2013, one month shy of her 95th birthday. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Alice Bennett; sister Alice Bennett; cousin Joyce Anderson, Doris is survived by her loving and grateful sister Vera Bennett (Regina); cousins Ethel Argan (Regina) and Audrey Goodridge (Richmond); and extended family Blake and Betty Anderson (Saskatoon), Ted and Jeanne Hay (Stony Plain), Mark, Roxanne, Eric and Paul Anderson (Regina), Lynne, Blair, Aaron, Cecily, Ethan, Ezrah and Romeo MacPherson (Saskatoon), Rhonda and John Norman (Edmonton), Jonathan, Heather and Samuel Anderson (Saskatoon), Graham and Jill Shaw (Manchester, England), Sandra Tanner (Perth, Scotland), and members of the Oldstrom and Crompton families (B.C.). Doris lived a long and full life: she was a woman of great integrity and optimism. She found deep joy in family, friends, music and the beauty of Gods creation. After graduating from Balfour Technical School in the 1930s, Doris began her working career at Sears, retiring nearly 50 years later in 1982. Colleagues respected Doris for her common sense, kindness and professionalism. In addition to her professional life, Doris was a longtime member of Westminster United Church, its sanctuary choir and the Orpheus Music Club. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the kind staff and nurses at the Pasqua Hospital and Pioneer Village and to Dr. Rasmussen. A Funeral Service of celebration and thanksgiving for Doris' life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Reine officiating. Flowers are most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing to make donations in memoriam are invited to give to the Westminster United Church Organ Fund, 3025 13th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 4P1.
