Obituary of William Brian Lustig
It is with deep love and sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Lustig at age 81 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He passed away in the Palliative Care Unit at Regina Pasqua Hospital, with his family by his side. Bill is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Margaret (nee Pilz); son Ron (Wendy) Lustig of Regina and grandsons Austin and Reid; daughter Julia (Mark) Mallinson of Kelowna, BC and granddaughters Genevieve and Alyssa and great-granddaughter Nevaeh. Bill was born in Moose Jaw and graduated from Campion College in Regina, then attended the Normal School in Moose Jaw for his teaching certificate. He worked for the Government of Saskatchewan for 34 years starting with the Department of Education, then the Department of Highways, ending his career as Supervisor of Sales and Salvage. He loved his wife and family dearly and was an inspiration to all that knew and loved him. Following retirement, Bill filled his days tinkering around the house and in his yard and finding special treasures at garage sales. Bills greatest joy in life was being with his grandchildren, imparting advice, wisdom and humour as needed. He always had a wonderful wit about him even to the very end. A special thank-you to the nurses and doctors in Palliative Care who cared for Bill so compassionately and professionally. We would like to also thank Dr. Whittick, Dr. McHattie and Rhonda and Cynthia from SWADD for their skill and support over the past seven months. A Celebration of Bills Life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, with Pastor Craig Moeller presiding. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make donations to Regina Palliative Care, 4F 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, S4T 1C2.
