WILLIAM DOUGLAS MULLEN After a short illness, Doug Mullen passed away on September 12, 2010 at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his loving wife Marg, his children Cathy Thomsen (Randy) of Calgary, AB. and Bill (Johanne) of Winnipeg, MB.; grandchildren Ryan, Christie, and Jeff, sisters Bessie Musick (Gordon), Beatrice Wilde(George), Marj Reilly, Joan Dickinson (Ray). Doug was predeceased by his parents, Ethel and Leslie Mullen of Burnaby, BC, his brother Lorne Mullen and sister Muriel Fulton. Doug was born in the Grey Nuns Hospital on May 12, 1921 and has lived the majority of his life in Regina, Saskatchewan. During the war, Doug started in radar, then remustered to aircrew, and finished the war as a navigator. Marg and Doug were married in Vancouver, and following the death of her father they moved back to Regina. Doug worked in the paint industry for thirty years, initially with Sherwin Williams and then as manager of General Paint. He has been an active member in many organizations throughout the years, such as the Construction Association, Lions Club, the Regina Symphony Annual Book Sale, #600 Wing Air Force Association, and Lakeview United Church. Always being a lifelong learner, Doug was an avid reader, enrolled in classes and participated in book discussion groups. Golfing with his friends at the Wascana Country Club each week was a great source of enjoyment which continued up until his illness. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Thanks to all his friends who came to spend time with him during his final days and supported him over the years. The family is appreciative of all the care and consideration he received in the 4D unit of the Pasqua Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Regina Scholarship Fund.
