Obituary of June Helen Anderson

On Thursday, September 23, 2010, June Helen Anderson (nee Williams) passed away, to join her husband Jim in Heaven. June is survived by her three children: Dennis of Edmonton, Nancy (Joe) McNeill of Regina, and Rob (Lana Phillips) and their children Margo and Kyle of Regina. June is also survived by her sister Pat Leverick of Saskatoon, brother Bob (Barb) Williams of Fort Saskatchewan, brother-in-law Earl Anderson of Salmon Arm, sister-in-law Eleanor (Steen) Mortenson of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews. June will also be missed by Margaret, Jim and Ruth along with her other friends at Queen Victoria Estates. June was born October 21, 1928 in Regina. She spent her early adult life taking secretarial courses, and worked for the Saskatchewan Government in the Department of Social Services. In 1951, she met the love of her life Jim while ice skating in Regina. They were married in May of 1953 and spent 55 wonderful years together until Jims death in 2008. In 1956, they had their first of three children. June became a stay-at-home Mom, a job she loved dearly. The focus of the rest of her life was always her children, and later her grandchildren. She loved nothing better than having the whole family together on Sunday evenings for a lavish meal. She spent countless hours babysitting the grandkids, attending their soccer and hockey games, and just generally spoiling them. June enjoyed travelling, square dancing and bowling; and was always a big Rider fan, holding season tickets for more than 25 years her favorite Rider was always Gainer! June also had a big heart and cared about the aged she volunteered twice weekly at Pioneer Village for over 30 years. She was also very dedicated to St. James Anglican Church. You could find her dishing up potatoes at a Fowl Supper, serving shortcake at a Strawberry Social, or tending bar at a Church fundraiser. In her alone time, she loved to read to knit and to garden. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010 in St. James Anglican Church, 1105 Empress Street, Regina with Rev. Derek Nichols and Rev. Malcolm French officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and doctors at Ward 4A at the Pasqua Hospital, where June received excellent care and especially to Dr. Pervaiz, for the special attention he provided for her. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan, #301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
