I had known Art most of my adult life. I was always interested in his travels and whenever he came to Vancouver we would hang out at the tennis clubs. He enjoyed a good beer and a quick snack. Always on the go and enjoying life to the max. So sad to hear this, but Art know you were loved by your friends ❤️

When we met at UofS, we found that we had something in common, our dads worked for the CPR. He was a slight man but a natural athlete and also excelled at baseball and could not be beat on a ping pong table with his superior hand and eye coordination. We shared friends and when he became a principal in the Mercedes dealership, I got to know him even better as I was in the finance business. A highlight trip was our drive in my 1965 MGB to Montreal Expo in 1967, with a diversion to Chicsgo to see a chum of his try out for the team. Art visited us in Calgary and I introduced him to skiing when it was -40 and he skied like he skated…no angulation…which I corrected. Next, he was travelling out to Lake Louise and due to cold no one was on the hill except his buddies who were ahead of him. He road the chair lift, raised the tips of his skis as instructed and road around the turnaround, having failed to dismount. But Art was a fast learner and was soon travelling to Europe to ski. As I recall, he was one of the Canadian contingent who travelled to Moscow to cheer the 1972 Team Canada live.
We exchangd Christmas cards for years, had many laughs along the journey and I too celebrate the life of a chap that could and did it his way, despite being a Liberal. Safe travels my friend.
