Obituary of Peter Yuristy

On October 2, 2010, Peter Yuristy passed away at the age of 87. Peter was born in the Hubbard District of Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his loving wife Julie in 2004, parents Steve and Anna; brothers Mike, Matt, John and Nick and sisters Mary Kowalchuk and Anna. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Wayne and Glenn (Edith); grandchildren Gregory and Sarah (Aaron) Lawrence and great-grandchildren Nathan and Benjamin. He will also be dearly remembered by many relatives. Peter married Julie in 1947 and they shared a love for travel and meeting new people. Peter excelled at keeping family and friends entertained for hours with his many stories, jokes and memories. During their retirement, Peter and Julie spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona and summers at their cottage in Katepwa, Saskatchewan. Prayers for Peter will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010 in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Divine Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010 in St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1757 Toronto Street, Regina with Rt. Rev. Vladimir Mudri presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Ivan and Christine Kozey, Ken and Grace Ahl, Emma Parfenuik, Bonnie Donison, Russ Whyte and the staff at Sunset Extendicare for all the care and comfort they offered Peter in his final years.
