Ronald Bocking

Obituary of Ronald James Bocking

Ron was born in Saskatoon on June 29, 1942, to Edgar and Rose Bocking and died peacefully in Regina on November 15, 2022. During his 80 years he led an interesting and valuable life. As a young adult he had a variety of jobs, and then followed a career that suited him perfectly. As a lover of books, he enjoyed working for 26 years at the Saskatchewan Provincial Library. After retirement in 2002, Ron became a member of CJTR Community Radio and was a volunteer with the radio station for 17 years. He worked in the office and was also able to share his passion for music by creating and hosting his own music programs.

In 1990, Ron married Pamela White and became a valued and loved member of her family, including son Ed (Wendy Martin) and daughter Wendy (Ryan). Ron had no children of his own, but greatly enjoyed being Grandpa to Gus, Ben, Noella, Phio and Ana. Left to cherish his memory are all the above, as well as his sisters Laura and Linda, niece Rose, and other nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents and his brother Tony.

During the last period of his life, Ron suffered from terminal cancer. Many thanks to the skillful and caring staff members of Palliative Care at home and the Broadway Terrace Wellness Centre. Gratitude also to the Broadway Terrace Community for their kind and friendly support.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held in 2023 in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation to CJTR Community Radio in memory of Ron.
