Obituary of Ronald Ray Dutchak

On November 26, 2022, Ronald Ray Dutchak passed away at the age of 85 surrounded by his wife, daughters, sons-in-laws and grandchildren. Ron was born in Bayard, Saskatchewan. He met his wife of 65 years, Raymonde Veilleux at school in Glenavon, Saskatchewan. They married in 1957 and had three children. Ron worked as a grain buyer for Searle, Federal and Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Glenavon, Maryfield, Wapella and Kelso until retiring in 1993.

Ron had a passion for sports and went on to coach hockey, baseball and softball. Many afternoons were spent teaching his own children and their friends how to improve upon their athletic talents. Much to his children’s and grandchildren’s dismay, hockey or baseball were usually on the tv when they went to visit, second only to CNN, of which he was also an avid watcher. Ron was a garden enthusiast and spent many hours in the garden with his grandchildren. His love of gardening was passed on to his children and grandchildren, delighting greenhouses, garden centers and plant stores all over the province.

Ron was predeceased by Nick and Mary Dutchak (parents), William Dutchak (brother), Jeanie St. Denis and Alice Ratushniak (sisters) and his son Garry Dutchak.
Ron is survived by his wife Raymonde (Veilleux) and daughters Lynette Pascal (Gerald), grandchildren Madison and Mackenzie and Chandelle Johnson (Devon), grandchildren Bailey and Adair and Rose Marie Keen Mus (Daughter-in-law), grandchildren Chastity Andrusiak (Daryl) great-grandkids Brooklynn, Abbigale, Nicholas and Ryan Dutchak (Susan) great-grandkids Tori, Erika and Taylor. Ron is also survived by his beloved dog Mocha, who was a loyal and loving companion.
  

Our utmost thanks and appreciation to the Palliative Care Unit, Pasqua Hospital, especially Ashley, who made the most difficult experience manageable.

No matter where you visited Ron, you could always expect to hear him say “drive careful” as you prepared to leave, even if you did not possess a driver’s license. We would like him to know that we will all drive safe.
