Bernice passed away peacefully in her William Albert Care Home in Emerald Park. She was predeceased by her husband Norman of many years and by her parents, Helga, and Andrew Tenold; sisters Maxine Olsen, Ilene Peters, and Lois Katernick.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Barry (Donna) Bowen Island, BC; Greg (Shelley) Moose Jaw, SK; Marnie (Terry) Lethbridge, AB; Kelly (Teresa) Regina SK; Tammy, Regina SK; Rick (Sheila) Red Deer, AB; ten grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, youngest brother Dallas Tenold (Cheryl) Weyburn SK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bernice was born on May 21, 1930, in Torquay, Saskatchewan, daughter of Andrew and Helga Tenold.
She attended Tenold public school and two years of high school at LCBI in Outlook SK. Following high school Bernice completed a course at the Technical College Institute in Saskatoon, and began working for the Department of Natural Resources in Regina.
On September 3, 1950 she married Norman Vall at Salem Lutheran Church, Torquay. They began their lives together in the Tisdale/Melfort area before moving in 1956 to Estevan where Norman started a construction company while Bernice helped in the office, raised the family and was caregiver to her husband.
For many years, Bernice and Norman were active in their beloved church congregation of Trinity Lutheran in Estevan where they developed lasting faith and friendships. They worked through organisations such as Voice of the Handicapped, and Creighton Lodge care home, and advocated for better handicap facilities for the city of Estevan.
Special thanks to the staff of William Albert House for the care and compassion shown to Bernice during this final year of her life.
A Celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, 3018 Doan Drive, Regina, SK, on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
A come and go memorial tea will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 738 2nd Street, Estevan, SK, on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 2-3:30 p.m.
