Obituary of Gillian Margaret Virgo

With broken hearts and deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and friend, Gillian Virgo, on December 22, 2022, at the age of 78.

Left to forever cherish her memory are her three sons, Marc (Leana), James (Monica), and Simon (Krystal) and three granddaughters, Kiera and Makayla Virgo and Isabella Virgo-Lerin, and many close friends.  Gillian was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Ivey Raines and the father of her three sons, Robert Virgo.

Gillian was born and raised in England and moved to Canada in 1973.  Regina soon became home, where she raised her three boys.  She was very proud of where she was from with many visits with the boys over to England when they were young.  Gillian dedicated her career to education for young children in Regina and enjoyed many years of teaching kindergarten before retiring in 2009.

Gillian loved spending time with family and watching her granddaughters dance and play sports.  She spent much time with friends, travelling, reading, and going on peaceful walks.

Gillian was an amazing mother with the kindest soul, and she was always there for her sons at every stage and in every aspect of their lives.  She was also so sweet and had a selfless approach to life, where she looked out for others and cared deeply for the people close to her.  She will be forever cherished and missed greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina on Monday, March 27 at 2:00 P.M with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gill’s name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.  Our family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support in this difficult time.
