Obituary of Nathalia Shik Kwan Chow

Nathalia Shik Kwan Chow, born Vivian Shik Kwan Wang, 93, of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on
December 26, 2022
Nathalia was born on May 17, 1929 to Wen Koang-Wang and Jie-Zhi Yu in Swatow, Guangdong Province,
China. She was the eldest of four siblings.
In 1949, Nathalia and two of her siblings left China and lived briefly in Vietnam. Fulfilling her love of
caring for young children and wanting them to have a decent education infused with good human
qualities, she became a kindergarten principal. In 1951, she, along with her mother and all her siblings,
moved to Hong Kong.
Nathalia and her husband Sui Ting Chow were married in Hong Kong in 1954 and together they had
three sons. In 1982, Nathalia and her husband immigrated to Regina, SK. Calling Regina their new home,
the couple enjoyed meeting new people. Both attended the Regina Chinese Alliance Church regularly
and cherished their friendship with church members and fellowship sisters.
Nathalia loved music, drama, theatre and the arts. Over the years this love was expressed sometimes
through fashion, interior decoration, gardening and flower arrangements. She loved dancing, especially
ballroom dancing where she often sought out classes to hone her skills. She diligently practiced her tai
chi and yoga daily and was an avid anthophile who had a passion for orchids with brilliant colors. She had
a healthy appetite for good food. Some of the fondest memories of her were over meals where seafood
was often the main attraction, with cheesecake as her favorite dessert.
Nathalia is predeceased by husband Sui Ting Chow, and is survived by her three sons, Andrew (Cheun
An), daughter-in-law Josephine of Regina, SK and grandsons Jonathan and Adrian, Christopher (Cheun
Kat) and son in law Daniel of Seattle, WA, Kenneth (Cheun Kei), daughter in law Dorota of Chatsworth,
ON and grandsons Matthew and Bart. She is also survived by her sister Julie Wang of Vancouver, BC,
brother Franchot Wang of Northbrook, IL and sister Grace Chia of St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia.
The family would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at The Renaissance Retirement Residence
where she had resided for the past six years. To the staff at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK, the family
expresses our heartfelt appreciation for the kindness and excellent care our mother received during her
recent hospitalization and final days.
The family will have a small private graveside interment service at the Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu
of a memorial service, the family plans to put together a ‘Memoriam of Nathalia’ in a digital format and
will make it available to family members and friends as a keepsake at some point in the future. The
