Thomas Wade

Obituary of Thomas Warner Wade

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Thomas Warner Wade, on January 17th, 2023.

Tom was born to Lillian and Thomas Sr on July 8th, 1931, with siblings Frank, Margaret, and Evelyn.

Tom spent over 90 years of his life in Winnipeg and most years in St. James. He experienced the many changes of both the area and the city during this time.  After spending nearly 60 years with his wife, Elsie, in their home on Freemont Bay, he had recently moved to Regina to receive more care and be closer to family.

Tom worked for 41 years at Manitoba Telephone System where he began his career as pole man, and worked his way up to a commercial line technician before retiring in 1989.

Whether summer or winter, Tom had a great love of nature.  You could find him outside, exploring on his bike for hours at a time, enjoying the Falcon Lake sunrise at the cottage, or naming the different species of trees and vegetation.  Tom enjoyed tending to his garden of delicate flowers, especially his roses , and Oh! The tomatoes!  The Manitoba winter never stopped Tom from volunteering his time as a downhill ski patrol.

Tom was always a deep thinker, and he wrote and recited sweet poems for his grandchildren.  But Tom's greatest passion was for books - it is not too much to say he was a voracious reader, and we are sure he had read nearly all the books at his local Westwood library - literally, thousands!

Tom always shared his time with others, and in doing so, transferred his love of nature and the passion of literature to those closest to him - his wife Elsie, children Laura-Lee (Terry) , Sherri ( Bill) and Lance (Andrea), grandchildren (Connor, Ryan, Addison, Savannah, and  Parker).

Dad and Grandpa - your legacy is already within us, and will continue to live on.  Within each of the hearts you have touched, are the beautiful things we love about life.

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure
