I am very Sorry for your loss. Alison was always a friendly face at Sask Poly. I shared many elevator rides through the years with her. We didn't work closely, but I always enjoyed our 5 minute chats going up and down the elevator or the occasioanl chat in the gym
Alison will be deeply missed.

I was so saddened to read the news of Alison's sudden passing. She and others in the Young Liberals were such a formative part of my life at University and in my early adult years. Alison's laugh, but also her incredible focus and organizational skills, were a marvel. She had great political acumen too, and I have such fond memories of the Bob Crowe campaign we put on at U of S (Alison was one of its leading lights!). Alison could be perceived as reserved, but one always knew that she would be there in a crisis and always prepared to help and support. I hope you will be comforted by her memory and the knowledge that she touched many lives.

Tom, Bruce, and Scott - my heart goes out to all of you. I worked with Alison for over 10 years at Sask Polytech. We grew very close working together day after day, building a friendship that became a part of my life I will always cherish. When I think of her I can hear her laugh … long, loud, and absolutely unrestrained. She put everything she had into that laugh, just as she did with everything in her life. Tom, she spoke of you so often, with great love in her words.
As anyone who came in contact with her knows, politics and animals, especially dogs, were as much a part of her being as breathing. We both had a background in politics, but on different “teams”, and spent many hours energetically debating political topics of the day … never really agreeing with each other, but always with respect and humour. When Justin Trudeau was running for his first term, Alison of course was a great fan and advocate for the young Mr. Trudeau. I on the other hand, was not. One day I stepped out of my office at lunch time. When I returned I found a lapel button with young Justin’s face smiling up at me from my office desk. The button neatly propped up on the base of my computer monitor. I laughed so loud and hard people came from neighbouring offices to make sure I was OK.
Alison helped and touched so many people in her too brief life. She meant so much to so many. My heart breaks knowing I will never again hear her laugh, see her smile, share a conversation over a beer, have her tease me about my driving, ask about my children and husband, debate politics, … all those things great and small.
There was so much I admired about Alison. Smart as a whip, a moral compass that shone like the North Star, the definition of integrity, dedicated mother, hardest worker I have ever known, funny, compassionate, fair, and kind. She had strong opinions, but always thoughtful opinions based on facts and reason. She was a strong presence in my life. She made me a better me, because she believed in me, and I didn’t want to disappoint her.
Good-bye my friend. I loved you dearly. I will miss you always.
To all the Mathesons, my sincerest condolences and sympathy. You have lost a true treasure.
