Obituary of Peter Harazny

It is deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Harazny on November 14, 2010. Peter was born on September 7, 1927 in Lang, Saskatchewan to Andrew and Nettie Harazny. Peter spent his early years on the farm near Lang until he moved to Regina to attend Balfour Collegiate. He married Rita Baumgartner on May 21, 1952. Peter spent many proud years working in the retail sector for MacLeods in Regina, Meadow Lake and Nipawin and at the Bay in Regina. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 58 years Rita (Baumgartner), his children Don (Mary-Anne) of Regina and Claudia (Darrell) Dean of Saskatoon, his 6 grandchildren David (Andrea) Harazny of Weyburn, Thomas Harazny of Vancouver, Michelle Harazny of Montreal, Matthew, Mitchell and Marshall Dean of Saskatoon, his 3 great-grandchildren Virginia, Natalie and Clive Harazny of Weyburn. Peter was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Nettie, his in-laws Anton and Mary Baumgartner, his siblings Bill Harazny, Mary Yakymyk, and Walter Harazny and his brothers-in-law Bill Yakymyk and Fred Shaw. He is survived by his siblings Olga (Norm) Schmidt and Julie Shaw , his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ben and Nora Wickenheiser and his sister-in-law Fran Harazny. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his family and was often seen watching his children and grandchildren in their many sporting events whenever he could. His favorite sport was baseball as reflected in his participation as a player, coach, manager and builder. He often watched the Blue Jays on TV but also was a follower of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Peter spent many hours socializing while playing cards with the Christ the King Seniors Club, as well as shuffleboard, card games, potluck dinners and social time with the residents of Hamilton Plaza. The family would like to thank all those who came to remember Peter today and to support Rita and her family during this difficult time. Peter will be missed by all who knew him.
