Obituary of Harley Ormand Williamson

WILLIAMSON, Harley Ormanson

1937 – 2023

Harley Ormand Williamson passed away on Sunday, June 4th, 2023, one day before his 86th birthday, in the Regina Pasqua Hospital. His beloved wife Dorothy was by his side, along with his family during his last few days and minutes of life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy; daughter Joyce; son Brent; grandchildren Marie (Joe), Dustin (Jillayne), Bret (Jacqui), Shayla; and his great-grandchildren Kaili, Vaida, Denzel, Harleey, Jack and Isla. He also leaves behind 5 of his siblings and many nieces; nephews; extended family and friends.

Harley was born to Don and Laura Williamson on June 5th, 1937, in Birch River MB. He was the 2nd born of 9 children, (Loyd, Harley, Barry, Faye, Carole, Mavis, Dale, Diane, Darwin). His family lived in Bellsite, MB and moved to Westgate, MB when he was 5 years old. He lived a long and hard-working life in Westgate up until 2022 when he required special care for his dementia. He then moved to Pioneer Village in Regina where he continued to work very hard, always fixing or working on something in his mind. His wife Dorothy and daughter Joyce visited him every day. We can’t express how wonderful the staff were to Harley at Pioneer. He became friends with many of the workers and they treated him dearly. They enjoyed listening to his old stories and teasing with him.

He married his true love, Dorothy Dufresne in Westgate on Dec. 12th, 1959. They had Joyce on Dec. 30, 1960, and Brent on May 24, 1962.

Although Harley worked hard from a young age and throughout his life, he enjoyed doing it. It was who he was. Some of his many worker titles were farmer, cattle rancher, logger, trucker, gardener.

His favourite (and only) vacation he would take was his annual trip to the Swan River Rodeo. He loved people and accepted all for who they were. He loved to visit and to tease! He also loved the outdoors and animals. In his earlier years he enjoyed riding his horses or cruising on one of his motorcycles. He enjoyed going to all the social events, dances, and coffee house nights with Dorothy. He was always a night owl, and they were often the last to leave!

He will be dearly missed but we take comfort in knowing he will be at peace with many of his passed loved ones in the Kingdom of God.
