Obituary of Wendelin Marbach

It is with sadness the family of Wendelin Marbach announces his passing on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina. Wendelin was predeceased by his parents Veronika and Pius Marbach; and his brothers Anthony and Arthur, who died in World War II. He will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Martha; son Arthur (Joyce) and their children Jordan, Jeffrey (Jennifer Ramsay) and Kristen; and daughter Monica (Neil) Neu, and their son Tanner. Wendelin immigrated to Canada, arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1951, then continued on to settle in Regina, Saskatchewan to reunite with other family members. He married Martha in 1955, and they were blessed with the birth of a son and a daughter. Wendelin completed his training in carpentry and received his journeyman papers in Germany. In Canada, he began his career working in home construction and then moved into finish carpentry, which was his expertise. He was a strong supporter of the German Canadian Harmony Club where he and Martha attended many events where they especially enjoyed the dances. Wendelin ushered at Sunday masses for numerous years at St. Marys Church and worked at the fundraising bingos for the parish. Some of his favorite past times were watching his grandchildren participate in their many activities and cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders and his favorite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. The family would like to extend their many thanks to Catherine, a spiritual advisor at the Santa Maria Nursing Home, as well as all the hardworking nursing staff and caregivers, who looked after Wendelin throughout this stay. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010 in St. Marys RC Church, 2026 Winnipeg Street, Regina. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Those so wishing may make memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
