Obituary of Lena Strecker

Lena was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the age of 89 years. She was born in Kronau, SK on January 2, 1921. She was predeceased by her parents Otto and Eugenie Leippi; her sister Emilleie Leippi; brother Martin Leippi; sister-in-law Evelyn Leippi; daughter Lillian Bell; and granddaughters Darla Meyer, Savanna Meyer-Scott. She was married to Henry Meyer for 26 years and Henry passed away in 1965. She married Henry Strecker in 1967 and he passed away in 1978. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Gerald (Faye) Meyer of Creston, BC, Albert (Doreen) Meyer, and Ed (Joanne) Meyer of Regina, SK; son-in-law Harvey Bell of Vernon, BC and her stepson Ernie (Velma) Strecker. Also mourning her passing is her brother Albert (Mary) Leippi and her sister Ruth Repp. Lena had 11 grandchildren: Brent Meyer, Noreen (Allen) Donald, Jeff Meyer, Ross Meyer, Marlene (Jeff) Meyer, Karen (Peter) Feke, Kate (Rob) Stone, Laura (Lance) Tifenbach, Yvonne Meyer, Darren (Tonya) Meyer; and Rena Strecker; 17 great-grandchildren: Jenna and Caeden Donald; Aaron Lawrence; Hannah Meyer-Scott; Sylvia Petit; Alesha Black; Royce (Anastasia) Dreveny; Jessica and Justin Feke; Harrison and William Stone; Zoe, Damien, Madelyn and Nadia Tifenbach; Tyler Hurly; and Gage Meyer as well as one great-great grandchild Sigmund Dreveny. She was a caring and loving wife and mother. Lena was a superb cook and baker and when she put on a meal, it was a feast. She was a beautiful seamstress and a very artistic person with her crocheting and knitting. She could play the organ and the accordion, and she would perform with a group at senior citizen centres. One of the greatest joys for Lena was to use her skills of singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and spreading the message of Jesus Christ to her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada, 137 Queen Street South, Kitchener, ON, N2G 1W2; Canadian Lutheran World Relief 302-393 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 3H6; or to a charity of your choice.
