1937 – 2023

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Gaylene Yvonne Schmidt, late of Milestone/Lang, who left us on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the age of 85 years.

Predeceased by her husband Joseph Schmidt; infant grandson Kristopher Eric; parents Peter and Elsie Lautenslager; sister Lila (Harry) Panasuik; in laws Amelia (Norman) Yoner; Grace (Andrew) Marcia; and Mary Schmidt.

She is survived by sons Jerry (Cindy); Kelly (Katrina); grandchildren David (Penny), Melody (Corey), Nathan (Chelsea), Amy (Logan), Anthony and Caitlyn; great-grandchildren Brittany, Kristopher, Zachary, Michael, Samantha, Aiden, Matthew, Kale, Koah, Jovie, Kyler, Luna, and Axel; her twin brother Gaylord (Donna) Lautenslager; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gaylene was born on the farm in Lang, SK on August 13, 1937.  The family moved south of Weyburn in 1944 and then returned to Lang in 1951. She and Joe Schmidt married April 6, 1956, and she spent her life as a farm wife and mother/grandmother. She loved her family and was always so happy to see any of them and to hear about what they had been doing. She loved her garden and yard and the many friends she made over the years. She moved from the farm in 2012 into Carrington Court in Milestone and spent her days visiting and happily taking part in everything.

Service will take place in the Lang Hall, Lang, SK on Monday July 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK.
