Obituary of Mary Lanoway

Mary Lanoway, late of Dysart, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the age of 87 years at Echo Lodge in Ft. QuAppelle. She was predeceased by her father Leo in 1937 and her mother Margaret in 1977; brother John in 1999; sister Anne in 2008 and sister Jean, March 3 of this year; brother-in-law Robert in 2001; niece Shelley in 1965 and nephew Douglas in 2004. Mary is survived by her brother Donald of Dysart; and sister Helen Vogt of Brandon, MB; as well as nephews Richard (Eileen) of Oakville, ON and Randy Poloyko of Regina; nieces Beverley Burgess of Abbey, Sandra Caron (Damone) of Swift Current and Cynthia Louden (Daniel) of Portland, OR; as well as numerous cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and good friends. Mary was born on the family farm near Dysart and at the age of 12, due to the death of her father, she began looking after the household duties, cooking, cleaning and caring for her five younger siblings. This enabled her mother to be out of the house taking on the farming duties. Mary was extremely talented; growing beautiful flower gardens, sewing and baking. In later years, she was the secretary for the family used farm equipment business and was available to help in any way, always a good sister, friend and neighbor. She continued to live on the family farm until three years ago, when due to failing health, she moved to a care home. So many have been blest by this wonderful lady! Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Dysart, SK with Rev. Msgr. Reymundo Asis, celebrant on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. The Interment will follow in the St. John the Baptist R.C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam, may be made to the charity of your choice. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com.
