Dear Aunt Doreen, Greg, Janice and Donna, and families My deepest condolences to you all. Uncle Vern was such an incredible person and full of life to the end. He was kind, generous, always smiling and enjoyed conversing about current events. I have so many special memories of him. He was always interested in what I was doing, and later that extended to my own kids. Rescuing little Kiri from the beach elevator after she climbed in and started it by herself. Offering a nice room temperature Canadian beer from a box on the floor whenever I came to visit. And selling to me my very first car, a bright orange Toyota, at a bargain price. I will hold dear our visit last summer, when he also got to see Darby and Floyd the dog, and will deeply miss him. May your memories give you comfort. Much love, Leanne, Michael and family

Our deepest condolences to Doreen and family. Vern and Doreen were my Dad’s neighbor in Walsh Acres for many years. You would often see them together in the yards, tinkering on anything, fishing at Verns cabin etc. one of my favourite memories is when they bought the same lawn mowers. They would then mow their lawns together. I have included the picture of the two of them. When I saw the house was for sale and no one around I was concerned. I spoke to the family and found out they were just moving. What a relief that all was well. Two days after Vern stopped into assure that all was well. Such a wonderful man. Rest in peace.

I was so blessed to have met and have Vern in my life. I met him when he was 81years young, and the first thing that struck me was how smart he was. Whether it was something mechanical or even computer related, Vern had a grasp and knowledge that far exceeded many younger people. He had such a zest for life and never shied away from helping anyone in need. I was always amazed how he kept such a beautiful outlook, and if you ever needed cheering up all you needed to do was see his smile and you knew it would be ok. I will miss you, Vern. I will miss all your wonderful advice and your eager attitude. I will always remember you for the wonderful man you are Matthew Fry
