Obituary of Vladimyar Terlesky

Walter Terlesky passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, after a lengthy illness. He was born in 1929 at Fenwood, Saskatchewan to parents Nick and Mary Terlesky (nee Stolar). Walter was born to a family of eight, Helen, Ann, Katie, Irene, Russell, and twins Doris and Olga. Walter went to school in Fenwood and St Josephs College in Yorkton and then to Moose Jaw Teachers College to obtain his teaching certificate. He taught schools around the Fenwood, Hubbard and Regina areas. He married Nettie Kowalow of Hubbard. Their daughter Louella was born in 1957 and passed away in Jan, 1989. A grandson, Jeremy Hill, was added to their family. After Walter quit teaching they resided in Regina where Walter worked for Canada Post until his retirement. Later, during his retirement, Walter became disabled and was placed in Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Walter enjoyed sports, particularly hockey and baseball. He was an avid reader and was very interested in geography. He also enjoyed listening to many types of music. Walter was fun- loving and enjoyed telling jokes. To further spend his time, Walter delivered the Regina Leader Post in his neighborhood and at the same time he loved to take his dog for a walk and chat with his neighbors. Walter is predeceased by wife, Nettie, daughter Louella, parents Nick and Mary, sisters Katie Fedoruk and Doris Terlesky as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Walter leaves to cherish his memory: grandson Jeremy Hill; sister Helen Butchko and family; sister Ann (Albert) Schiffer and family; sister Irene Melnyk and family; brother Russell (Marian) and family, sister Olga Terlesky, cousins and in-laws Tony and Marcella Balezantis and family. Requiem (Panachyda) will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Rite will be held at Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor, 1305 12th Ave, Regina on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with the Very. Rev. Arch. Priest Slawomir Lomaszkiewicz presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
