Obituary of John Allan Reynolds

1916-2010 Jack was raised on his parents homestead 12 miles from Bromhead and Torquay in South Central Saskatchewan. He did farm labour and worked in a lumber camp during the Depression. In 1941 he enlisted in the RCAF. Seconded to RAF Ferry Command, he was badly burned in a plane crash. In 1946 he married Ellen Edis of Red Deer, Alberta. They had two children: Tom (Bev Wass) of Ottawa and Keith (Sharlene Hertz) of Vancouver; seven grandchildren: David, Colin, Brian, Karen, Laura, Alexa and Matthew; and two great-grandchildren Andrew and Ella. After Ellen passed away, Jack enjoyed the companionship of his friend Eleanor Casselman. Jack worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs from 1946 until he retired in 1975. He was a long time member and active participant in St. Marys Anglican Church, the Caledonian Curling Club, the Air Force Association of Canada, the United Services Institute and The Guinea Pig Club, a group of British Empire and Commonwealth airmen burned in the war and treated at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, England. He was an honorary life member of the Regina Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. The family wishes to thank the staff of William Albert House in Emerald Park who lovingly cared for Jack during his final years.
