Obituary of John Paul Klimczak

JOHN PAUL KLIMCZAK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Klimczak, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle at the age of 70 years old on December 24th, 2010. He was predeceased by his father John, mother Mary, brothers Walter, Edmund, Stanley, Peter, Joseph, and sister Julie. He is survived by his loving wife Joan, son Peter, daughter Christina, granddaughter Carmen, sisters Helen and Kay, brother Frank and many nieces and nephews. Many people will remember John most for his musical talents. His passion for music was evident for a large part of his life. He sang and played many instruments but was most well known for playing the guitar. He belonged to several music bands throughout the years. Most notably, when he was in his twenties, he had his own band called Johnny and The Chord Notes who were well known locally in Regina and were even showcased on local television. He kept his summers busy when he played guitar for Saskatchewan Express for 15 years. John was featured as a guest artist in the Regina Symphony Orchestra. He also played for numerous weddings, anniversaries, Christmas and New Years parties, and anything else that you can imagine. Everyone wanted Johnny to play his guitar for them. He was an honorary member of the Regina Musicians Association. John was a teacher for the Regina Public School Board for 20 years. He taught many grades and classes but his most notable contributions were the years he taught at Cochrane High School where he ran the Music and Art Program and inspired many youths. His most rewarding job was working at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre where he taught music to children with disabilities. He also taught classical guitar at the University of Regina, private guitar lessons out of his home as well as guitar lessons at a summer school in Fort QuAppelle in his earlier years. John served his community by volunteering his musical talents to several organizations throughout the years. Most notably, John played at the Cancer Patient Lodge, numerous nursing homes and hospital functions and was featured on the radio for the MS Society musical fundraiser on CKRM for several years. John was happiest when he made people smile. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. Visitation will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. FUNERAL SERVICE to celebrate Johns life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Johns memory to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, P.O.
