Obituary of Emilie Walter

EMILIE (nee Reichert) WALTER TANTE? June 21, 1923 March 20, 2013 Emilie, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the age of 89 years. Emilie was born into a loving family in Kablanov, Ukraine and had a happy childhood until the repression of communism forced her family from their home. While moving from country to country, Emilie learned to speak many languages including German, Russian, Ukrainian, English and Platt Deutsch. After immigrating to Canada, Emilie worked 30 years at the Grey Nuns and Regina Hospital Laundry Services. She was a devout member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Emilies interests included creating intricate crochet work and lovingly preparing traditional meals for her family. She was also a passionate and meticulous gardener who would selflessly share the fruits of her labour with family and friends. Emilie was predeceased by her mother, Katherina Reichert; father, Peter Reichert; sisters, Adeline and Marta; brother, Ewald; and husband, Julius Walter. She is survived by her niece, Ina Jost; great-nephews, Thomas, Peter and Stephan Jost; great-niece, Karen (Kevin) Reese; great-great-nephew, Christopher (Jessica) Reese; great-great-nieces, Jessica, Alison and Pamela Reese; nephew, Robert (Pamela) Raedcher; great-nephews, Gerard (Cathryn and son, Robin), Michael and Adrian Raedcher. On behalf of Emilie and her family, we would like to thank the caregivers at Dove House and Sunset Extendicare who helped her in her final journey. We are especially grateful for Alexandra Meister, who took exceptional care of our Tante and became part of her family. The other person we would very much like to thank is Pastor Jeremy Swem from Grace Lutheran Church, who has been a great source of comfort for Emilie and her family. Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1037 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday March 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeremy Swem officiating.
