Obituary of Shirley Mae Wilde

SHIRLEY MAE WILDE Mom passed away peacefully at home in Regina, on Thursday, March 21, 2013 after a short illness. She was 87 years old. Predeceased by her parents Mabel and Cecil Webb; and son-in-law Ken Camphaug, Mom is survived by her husband Doug Wilde; her children, sons Dale (Edna) Wilde and Barry (Donna) Wilde and daughter Shawna Camphaug; seven grandchildren, Cathy Wilde (Al Pimentel), Karin Hack (Reed), Micheal Camphaug (Lesley), Brett Wilde (Amanda ), Laurie Wilde (Ken), Shannon Sluser (Lee), and Steve Wilde (Joanna); five great-grandchildren, Schay Camphaug, Blake Camphaug, Dimas Pimentel, Colton Sluser and Charlie Hack; and her sister Donna Lund of Regina. Mom was born on August 31, 1925 in Saskatoon and attended Albert School, Nutana Collegiate and the U of S. She played basketball for the U of S for three years and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with Distinction in 1946. Mom and Dad were married in 1948 and would have celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary this Wednesday. Their married life was wonderful to watch as it unfolded over the years and was the admiration of all. In the course of their years together, Mom and Dad lived in Ogema, Saskatchewan from 1948 to 1950, Regina from 1950 to 1952, Saskatoon from 1952 to 1957, Regina again from 1957 to 1977, on the farm near Tragarva, Saskatchewan from 1977 to 1991 and Blind Bay, British Columbia from 1991 to 2006 at which time they returned to Regina. In addition to raising a family, Mom worked at the Regina Public Library for seventeen years. She sang in numerous Church Choirs over the years and enjoyed playing golf and more recently following the sport on television. Mom and Dad saw a large part of the world before and after retirement and particularly enjoyed their winters in Arizona. The best time of the week for Mom, when in Regina, was having the family over every Friday afternoon. Those were very special times. Mom was very devoted to her family and was extremely proud of her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed hearing about their lives and activities and was always able to remember and keep things straight when others couldnt. She will be missed, but remembered always. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Friends wishing to honor her memory are invited to make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8.
