Obituary of Olive Ruth Beveridge

OLIVE RUTH BEVERIDGE (nee PEART) 1934 - 2011 It is with deepest regrets that we announce the passing of our mother on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Regina General Hospital following a brief and unexpected illness. She was born May 2, 1934, the eldest of three, to John (Jack) W. Peart and Virginia Ruth Peart (nee Brown) in Regina, Sask where she attended Central Collegiate graduating in 1952. In 1957, she married Graham Beveridge (Musselburgh, Scotland) and returned with him to live in Edinburgh for the first year of their marriage. Following the birth of their first son that first year, they returned to Regina and added five more children to the family. She was a devoted mother and wife and dedicated the next two decades to raising and educating her children. Olive had a keen interest in science, particularly geology and chemistry. She was able to resume her former education (University of Saskatchewan and Queens University) by attending classes at the University of Regina, obtaining a certificate of administration through the Okanagan College School of Business. In 1988, she moved to Penticton, BC, to be closer to her mother and brother. With a growing extended family in Regina, she returned to Saskatchewan to be closer to family. She was most recently a resident of the Wintergreene Estates retirement community. She enjoyed watching the development of her many grandchildren and children. Olive was predeceased by her husband Graham Beveridge in 1986 and is survived by her six children: John of Regina, SK; Jane Johnson of Vancouver, BC; Edward and Lesley (nee Ellinthorpe) of Regina, SK; Colin and Beth (nee Doerksen) of Moshi, Tanzania; Lorna and Roger MacCormack of Regina, SK, and Vivian and Glenn Wilson of Great Falls, Montana. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Ezra Johnson (Jane); Taylor, Mackenzie and Cydney Beveridge (Ed); Olivia, Mercedes and Franky (Colin); Amara and Jesse MacCormack (Lorna), and Luke and Nate Wilson (Vivian). Olive is also survived by two brothers, John and JoAnne Peart of Delray Beach, Florida and Tom and Margie Peart of Penticton, BC. A Private Interment will be followed by a Public Reception at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street (two buildings north of Speers Funeral Chapel), on Sunday, February 27, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please submit donations through www.diabetes.ca To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
