Obituary of Margaret Stevenson

Margaret, late of Regina, formerly of Calgary passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Herb (Steve) in 1992; her parents, Joseph and Ella Welsh of Calgary, AB; brother, Donald Welsh of Edmonton, AB; sister, Catherine Thomas of Richmond, BC; nephew, Richard (Mary) Welsh of Edmonton, AB; and niece, Linda (Brad) Ridgeway of Vancouver, BC. Margaret is lovingly remembered by her brother, Glenn Welsh (Ingrid) of Ottawa; sister-in-law, Peggy Welsh of Richmond, BC; former sister-in-law, Beth Rimell of Edson, AB. She is also survived by cherished nephews and nieces, David (Donna) Welsh, Ted (Doreen) Thomas, Patty (Laird) Michael, Nancy Welsh, and Judy Klyne; and she had many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Margaret was born January 26, 1917, raised in Calgary and completed training as a teacher at Normal School. She married Herb in November 1942 while stationed in Calgary with the RCAF. Following Herbs return from overseas in 1946 he resumed employment with SaskTel in Regina. Margaret was employed by the Dept of Education, as a Program Consultant for 31 years. As a couple they enjoyed a variety of interests and hobbies. They were active members of Wascana Church, charter members of the Go-Far Trailer Club, the RCAF Assoc, Gofers Trailer Club and life members of SaskTel Pioneers. They were proud owners of a 1930 Model A Ford coupe in which they enjoyed many outings with the Regina Antique Auto Club and the Dusty Spokes Model T Club; as well as happy times in their cottage at Regina Beach. Many winters were spent at the Royal Scot in Victoria, BC. Marg was deeply involved in fraternal and club organizations and held many positions. These were Regina Chapter #7 Order of the Eastern Star for over 70 years, International Order of Jobs Daughters, Rebekah Empire Lodge #43, Orpheus Club and the Zonta Club (now XZs). Her favorite hobbies were travel, clothes, people, teddy bears, scrap booking, conventions with club mates and making friends wherever she traveled or lived. Marg had a zest for life and a great sense of humor. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to your favorite charity. There will be no formal funeral service but a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
