Joan, late of Regina, formerly of Wilcox area, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Johnny; her parents, Hardy and Ivy Cradock; brothers, sisters and their spouses, Guy (Anne) Cradock, Sheldon Cradock, Barbara (George) Ackerman and Phyllis in infancy. Joan is survived by her children, Doug (Marge), Patsy (Peter) Deis and Jim (Pat); grandchildren, Scott (Leslie), Steven (Jillian), Peter John (Kerrie) Deis, Michael (Tina) Deis, Nancy Deis, Peter (Nicole), Chris (Kelly) and J.R. (Kerri-Lyn); 15 great-grandchildren; brother Roger (Betty);sister-in-law Dorothy of Alberta; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was born May 10, 1916 on a farm near Stelcam, Saskatchewan. She took her schooling in a one-room schoolhouse until Grade 12. She came to Regina to work in order to earn her tuition and then attended Scott Collegiate obtaining her Grade 12. Mom stayed with an Aunt and Uncle while doing so. She then took teachers training in Moose Jaw and taught at Adelaide school near Pitman. While boarding at Fred Tunisons farm, Mom met his younger brother, Johnny. Love blossomed and they married October 8, 1938. They took up residence on a farm near Wilcox (Yankee Ridge) and lived and farmed there until Dads untimely passing in January of 1982. Mom and Dad spent winter vacations mainly in Vegas for 13 years prior to his passing, enjoying the weather and their many friends there (and gambling, of course). After Dads passing, Mom moved to Regina and continued her volunteering and enjoying lots of traveling around the world, and when home, was always up to a game of cards. Mom always enjoyed her family and was very proud of everyone. We will miss her! A Celebration of Moms life will be held at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kim Antosh officiating. A reception will follow in the Little Flower RC Church Hall, 420 College Avenue, Regina (please use Edgar Street entrance). Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of our Mom may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8, Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale Street, Regina, SK, S4S 3Y6, or to Child Find Saskatchewan, 202-3502 Taylor Street East, Saskatoon, SK, S7H 5H9.
