Obituary of Gordon Nagel

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandpa and brother, Gordon Peter Nagel, on Monday, May 2, 2011. He is predeceased by his siblings; John, Joe, Anne, Leo, Bill, Martha, Elsie, Fred and Cap. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Darleen, and his four daughters and their families; Bev Brander (Bruce: Leone, Maria, Sydney); Kim Nagel-Zeller (Terry: Mitchell); Darla Mullock (Gerry: Kenda, Kevina) and Leslie Frei (Chris: Malaya, Lola) and his sister Clara Breker. Born on his parents farm near Claybank, the youngest of 11, Gord grew up in Moose Jaw and Regina. He was an avid hockey player and fan. Since his retirement in 1999, he has enjoyed many hours on the golf course. His passion for music never waned; he was an accomplished musician adept on the accordion, drum set, piano, guitar and enjoyed singing throughout his life. Gord operated his own business (Texaco) and later spent 35 years working for Cadbury Beverages Canada. All through his life he enjoyed travelling with family and friends. Gord was always loving, kind and a generous friend to many. He lived for his family and nothing pleased him more than a gathering with good food, great music and treasured friends. He was very proud of his children and his grandchildren and he loved watching them play sports and perform music & dance. The cottage at Crooked Lake has been the setting for many special memories for multiple generations. He was the life of the party and could always be found singing, strumming his guitar or storytelling. He will be greatly missed. Gords family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Pasqua and General hospitals and Allan Blair Clinic, for their exceptional and dignified care. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Gords life will be held at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, 100 Argyle St. Regina, Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to THE CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
