Obituary of Elsie Hunter

Elsie passed away peacefully in her sleep, after a brief illness, in the presence of her son and under the superb care of Perram House Palliative Care Residence in Toronto on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Loving mother of her son Dale and devoted grandmother of Benjamin and Patrick. Elsie was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold; her parents; her brothers Jimmy, Lloyd, Wes and Joe; her sisters Rube and Helen. Elsie was a sports enthusiast. She played softball as a child and later became an avid golfer and curler. Her proudest moments were being part of the winning curling team at the Mixed Provincial Championship in 1973 and Runners-Up at the Canadian Mixed Championship in Charlottetown. While living in Regina she attended many Regina Caps hockey games and Roughrider football games. While living with her son in Toronto she attended over 30 baseball games; her love of sports continued in her later years as a devoted attendee. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a quiet, dignified and loving person. Many thanks to the staff at Perram House for the wonderful care Elsie received. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
