Obituary of Ronald Carl Jakobs
A free spirit, a generous teacher, a loving husband to Melanie, brother to Betty Anne and son.
A very special man, truly beloved by all who knew him.
Creative and passionate; analytical and thoughtful.
Romantic and sentimental; spontaneous and quirky.
Avid golfer; connoisseur of music, especially Melanies.
Comfortable in his own skin and deeply caring of everyone elses.
Interested and curious; adventurous and bold.
Loved fast cars, travel, basketball and good scotch.
Loved classic movies, pushing limits, white socks and pranks.
Loved older people, listening, artistic beauty and following his own rhythms.
Loved entertaining, Christmas, setting a nice table and polishing silver.
Loved Fridays, breakfast at the Quality, adventures with friends and date night.
Loved kids, knew kids and made a difference to kids lives.
Ron Loved life, loved to laugh and loved Melanie, REALLY loved Melanie.
He was never afraid to cry, never afraid to try new things, never afraid to give a big hug or words of encouragement. Ron knew the meaning of true friendship.
Ron understood that life is worth living and now is the time to live it.
Ron lived and grew up with his father Carl, mother Irma and sister Betty Anne in the house his father built on 17 block Royal across the street from his very special grandparents. Ron always knew the importance of family and saw Betty Anne as not only a sister but a valued friend. Ron Hicke was the brother he never had. Ron was lucky to have two moms, Irma and Marge May.
Family, friends, colleagues and former students are invited to a celebration of Rons life on Thursday, June 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lady Slipper Garden in Wascana Centre, 2400 Wascana Drive. Bring your favourite bag of chips to add to the chip salad!
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a memorial donation in Rons name to the Regina Humane Society, PO Box 3143 Stn Main, Regina, SK S4P 9Z9. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
