Obituary of Drena Marie Patterson
Drena, born August 11, 1931 in Fort QuAppelle, SK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the age of 79 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, SK with her family by her side. She leaves us to join her husband of 53 years, Don, who passed away in 2008. Drena is survived by son David (Susan), grand-daughter Laurel (Joel), great-granddaughter Isabella and grandson Josh; daughter Donna (Ralph), granddaughter Cheryl (Aaron), and great-granddaughters Ella and Harmony. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary, Pat, Anne and Kathy; as well as Dons brothers and sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Drena was predeceased by parents, Albert and Lily Daze and her father and mother-in-law Leo and Mabel Jerome; brothers Lionel and Lou; as well as brothers and sisters-in-law on both sides of the family. Drena worked for Pic N Pak (Westfair Foods) for 19 years as a cashier. After retiring, she worked for several years as a Product Demonstrator for numerous companies. Drena enjoyed being very involved with her grandchildrens many activities school, band and dancing. She loved to play crib and was an avid sportsperson with her favorite teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Yankees and of course her #1 team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. She was a season ticket holder for over 30 years. She always loved to travel and her many trips to the casinos in various cities. (Or as Mom referred to it as, the Library?) Drena was a member of the Northgate Walkers until ill health forced her to resign. She made many wonderful friends at the Northgate Walkers Club and very much enjoyed all the activities they did. She will be missed by numerous friends, especially Betty and Merv Hilworth and Pat Blondeau of Regina and the Simmons Families in BC. Drena has left a lasting impact on all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. She will always be in our hearts. Flowers are gratefully declined. The family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers of Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, especially the staff of 2-6 for their wonderful care and kindness. Drena appreciated everything that each one of you did for her. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peters RC Church, 100 Argyle Street, Regina on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. A private family inurnment will take place in Riverside Memorial Park.
