Obituary of Marion Carr

MARION CARR (nee HUBBARD) August 27, 1922 April 19, 2013 Marion was born on a farm near Unity, Saskatchewan on August 27, 1922. At the age of 19 she moved to Regina and worked as a seamstress at the Gray Nuns Hospital. She also worked in food service at the Wheat City Curling Club. When the Lakeview Par 3 Golf Course was opened in May of 1966, she was the first one to be in charge of the course, and was its heart and soul for 22 years. During the winter, she worked as a travel agent with Reidy Travel. In addition to the many golfers and seniors who traveled with her to the annual World Curling events, and other parts of the world, Marion made new friends no matter where her travels took her. She is also remembered for her baking skills, turning out literally thousands of the finest butter tarts and cinnamon buns, and she had a magic touch with pie crusts that would melt in your mouth. As a seamstress, Marion made literally hundreds of aprons, casserole carriers and other items that helped raise money for charitable organizations. Many friends remember her boundless generosity and capacity for caring about people. You could always depend on her for a helping hand, and if needed, a shoulder to cry on. You never left her home hungry or empty-handed. Marion was very proud of her 50 years as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and served in many capacities for Regina Chapter No. 7 over those years. Marion is survived by her husband Dick Carr and her two daughters, Sharon Fettes and Wylaine Lafoy. It is with downcast hearts, but eternal love we say goodbye to a wonderful wife, dearest mother and best friend. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Marions Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com Love to you all from Marion
