Obituary of Leo Francis Lancaster

LEO FRANCIS LANCASTER It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Leo Francis Lancaster of Regina on the evening of Monday, April 22, 2013 at the age of 81. Leo will be lovingly remembered by his children Cathy (David) Bouchard, John, Joe (Linda), Pat (Bev), Chris, Mike (Andrea Scott), Mary Lancaster (Mike), Elizabeth (Scott) MacDonald, and Barbara (Dave) Cape. Leo was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret Catherine (1989), his mother Norah Mary (1978), his father John Leo (1931), and daughter-in-law Vera (2012). Leo was born in Salford, Manchester, England and came to Canada in 1949 and fell in love with this immense country. He next fell in love with the lively Margaret McElgunn and they wed on Grey Cup weekend in 1955. They were blessed with nine children. Leo was a passionate advocate for workers and gained respect among his colleagues working in both labour and management in Alberta and Saskatchewan for over four decades. His career concluded with numerous appointments to Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board. He leaves behind many friends to celebrate his life as well as nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
