Obituary of Bertha Barbara Voelpel

BERTHA BARBARA VOELPEL Bertha Barbara (nee Maier), late of Pioneer Lodge, Southey, SK. Our much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on May 18, 2009 at the age of 99 years and 32 days. She was predeceased by her husband, Andreas in 1969; parents Theresia and John Maier Sr.; five brothers Fernie, John, Axel, Louis and Simon; six sisters Elfrieda, Karolina, Ludwika, Elizabeth, Emma, and Frieda; sons-in-law Wilfred Roske and John Knapp; and great-grandchild Karson Knapp. Bertha is survived by her daughter Dolores Knapp; grandchildren Nadene (Orlando) Perry, Ladette (Jerry) Fuchs, Lorna Roske, Jeremy (Roxanne) Knapp. Bertha was very proud of her ten great-grandchildren James (Alysia), Luke, and Holly Nixon; Jesse and Tara Fuchs; Amanda and Kurt Flaman; Lane, Tamara, and Shelby Knapp. She is also survived by her sister Regina Orb; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Bertha (Granny) lived in the Southey community all of her life. Grannys willingness to share her wisdom, strength, and determination was well received and enjoyed by her family. She will be dearly missed. A Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Southey, SK on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Harold Borchardt officiating.
