Obituary of Gladys Violet Ross

GLADYS VIOLET ROSS Gladys Violet Ross passed away, peacefully, with family by her side, on Sunday, June 7, 2009. Gladys was born at Drinkwater, Saskatchewan on January 22, 1911. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, William and Jane Chuck; her loving husband, Sydney, whom she married in 1929; her son, Everette; and her sister, Lillian McKechnie. She will be fondly remembered by sister-in-law, Ella Ross, and several nephews, nieces and their families. Gladys worked, for many years, at Sears in the order review office, until her retirement. She was a faithful caregiver to her husband and son, through many years of poor health. Gladys enjoyed gardening and crocheting, and made many beautiful afghans over the years. She enjoyed getting out for coffee and meals with family and friends, and often made us laugh with her quick wit and sense of humor. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East with Pastor Ernie Metz officiating. Friends should meet at the cemetery gates prior to 10:00 a.m. A reception will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, immediately following the interment. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Extendicare for the care given to our aunt. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
