Obituary of Edda Tait

EDDA TAIT Her strong will allowed Edda to courageously fight back many times from multiple chronic health conditions. Despite her determination, however, she was finally defeated by a brief yet intense battle with cancer, one day after her 72nd birthday on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Edda leaves behind her devoted caregiver and husband of 51 years, Irving, her only child Beverly (Ron) MacLeod, and two grandsons Andrew and Michael Ruffell. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Hannalore) Muller of Spokane WA, sister Sophie Dragon of Vancouver BC, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law in Eastern Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Karl and Emmy Muller. Edda was born on a farm north of Westlock AB. She was the youngest of four children. She joined the Air Force when she was 18 and moved to Ontario to receive her basic training. She learned a trade and was very proud to excel as a teletype operator. Edda met Irving at CFB Edgar near Orillia ON and after a brief courtship they married in 1961. She was an Air Force wife which meant moving across Canada and to Europe over a 25 year period, and having to raise her daughter without family support. She and her husband retired to Kamloops BC and lived there for 22 years before moving to Regina in 2007 to be close to their daughter. As a girl she played softball (catcher), and through her life she enjoyed sewing and tending their large vegetable garden. She also enjoyed watching baseball and curling. For most of her adult life she was an avid reader which helped her through her many health crises. She will be missed by those who loved her, but we are so grateful she is now at peace. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 935 McCarthy Blvd N, Regina on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Flowers are respectfully declined. Donations in Edda's name may be made to Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK, S4R 8P6. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
