Obituary of Dorothy Mildred Richter

DOT RICHTER It is with sadness that the family announce the death of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Dot was predeceased by her husband Ben in 1996; her parents James and Ethel Gordon; brothers Arthur, Harold and sister Juanita, stepbrother Bill. She is survived by two children, Bonnie (Roy) Hiebert and James Richter all of Regina, three grandchildren Carmen (Annette) Hiebert, Julie (Greg) Poitras, and Jeremy Richter, three great-grandchildren Emily and Hailey Hiebert and Jaden Poitras all of Regina; brothers-in-law Carl (Mabel) Richter and Fred (Arlene) Richter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dot was born and raised in the Froude, Sask. district and left her birthplace at an early age to pursue a career in the teaching profession which extended for a period of some 36 years. Upon retirement from teaching she became involved in the Real Estate Association in Regina and served in that industry as a salesperson for 20 years. She made herself available to assist with several volunteer programs and canvassed on behalf of many worthwhile organizations. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, playing cards, travel and in particular her winters to Phoenix AZ. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service to Celebrate her Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at St. Pauls Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina with Dean James D. Merrett officiating. Special thanks to Dr. Dolata and the staff of 3B at the Pasqua Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dots memory may be made to the Friends of Unit 3B, c/o Hospitals of Regina Foundation, P.O. Box 1697, 225 " 1874 Scarth St., Regina SK, S4P 3Z6.
